Action the movement of a horse (high action=high stepping)

Bloodline pedigree, ancestry
Breed a particular bloodline(s) of horses sharing definitive characteristics
Broodmare breeding mare

Colt young male horse(usualy 4yrs or under)
Cold-blooded horse whose ancestry is solely from north Europe
Conformation the proportion of a horses body

Dam mother of a horse
Draft heavy breeds, 'cold-blooded', used for pulling

Farrier horse-shoer
Feather long hair on the bottom of the legs
Filly young female horse(usualy 4yrs or under)
Foal young horse(under one year)

Gelding castrated male horse

Hands the unit a horse is measured in. 1 hand = 4 inches
Hot-blooded A horse whose ancestry is soley from the desert horses(Arab, Barb, also Thoroughbred)

Long Yearling A horse about to turn two years old

Mare adult female horse(usualy 4yrs or older)

Paddock small fenced pasture, usualy under an acre
Pasture area horses are let loose to graze and run
Pony a horse under 14.2 hands

Sire father of a horse
Stallion adult male horse(usualy 4yrs or older)
Stud breeding stallion
Stud-book a breed registry's record of pegigrees and registered horses
Supplement added to feed for vitamin content or other health benifit. Usualy powders, pellets, herbs, oils.

Warm-blooded A horse whose ancestry is mixed between 'hot' and 'cold' bloodlines.
Weanling foal that has been weaned
